    Eligible items must be compliant with Australian Standards where applicable (please refer to the terms and conditions on our website).

    Items installed by a Licenced Security Agent will be eligible for a 30% rebate (up to $500). Items that may be and are self-installed (do-it-yourself) will be eligible for a 20% rebate (up to $500).

    A security sensor light may be eligible for a 30% rebate if it is mains powered and installed by a Licensed Electrical Contractor. 

    Eligible items that require electrical work e.g. mains powered must be installed by a Licenced Electrical Contractor. 

    Please refer to the full Terms and Conditions on the City of Stirling's website as some items have minimum purchase values. 

    The rebate amount provided will be up to the maximum amount allowed per item and the accumulative rebate can not exceed $500, including installation costs.

    Please attach proof of purchase for each eligible item or service. This must show the purchase date, item or service, supplier’s business name, and ABN. Quotes are not accepted. Proof must be a tax receipt or similar document confirming full payment. If multiple suppliers were used, include proof from each.

       Who Can Apply

      • You must live or run a business in the City of Stirling.
      • The property where the security item is installed must be in the City of Stirling.
      • Only items bought after 1 April 2025 are eligible.
      • The rebate program may end at any time, as decided by the City of Stirling.
      • If you received a rebate for a specific item (like a home alarm or CCTV) in 2024/25, you can’t apply for the same item again in 2025/26 - but you can apply for a different eligible item.

       

      What You Can Claim

      • You can submit one rebate claim per property and per person. You can include more than one item, but the total rebate can’t be more than $500.
      • If someone else (like your partner) has already claimed a rebate for your property, you can’t claim again.

      Note: Some items must be installed by licensed professionals. For example, electric shutters and mains-powered lights must be installed by a licensed electrician.

      • Items must be installed at the property you’re claiming for.
      • You’re responsible for checking that any tradesperson you hire is properly licensed and follows the law.
      • DIY installation is allowed, except for electrical work, which must be done by a licensed electrician.
      • The rebate amounts depend on the item and whether it’s installed professionally or DIY. See the table below:

       

      Item Standards

      • Items must meet Australian Standards where required:
        • Security screens: AS 5039, AS 5040, AS 5041
        • Deadlocks: AS 4145.2
      • The City may ask for more information to check if your item meets standards or licensing rules before paying your rebate.

       

      Approvals

      • If you rent or live in a strata property, you must get permission from the landlord or strata company before buying or installing anything.
      • If you’re unsure whether an item is eligible, contact the City of Stirling before buying.

       

      How to Apply

      • Buy and install the item first, then apply online or with a paper form.
      • Include ID documents signed by you.
      • Include receipts showing the date, amount paid, and the supplier’s ABN.
      • Items must be fully paid for and installed before you apply.
      • Rebates are paid by bank transfer to your nominated account.

       

      Legal Stuff

      • You agree that the City of Stirling isn’t responsible for any issues with your security item, unless caused by the City’s own actions.
      • The City can change these terms at any time.
      • The rebate program may change or end at the City’s discretion.
      • You must not make a false claim or misuse the rebate. If you do, you may have to repay the money and could face legal action.
      • The City may inspect installations to check they meet the rules.
